Three FREE Credit Reports Annually

July 14th, 2011 at 07:58 pm

I just thought I would take a moment to let everyone in on a little-known secret.

So, everybody knows that you can get a free credit report annually. However, very few people realise that you can actually get one for free every four months.

The 'trick' is just going to each individual credit union and getting a free report through them, rather than going to one of these free credit report web sites with a ridiculous jingle.

Here is my rotation:

Text is Experian and Link is
Experian - March 1
Text is Equifax and Link is
Equifax - November 1
Text is Transunion and Link is
Transunion - July 1

This way, you can monitor your credit report regularly, and for free. Remember, you cannot view it for free again one year later. That is why we use a different one every four months.

Happy Credit Reporting!

I think this is a great strategy. I like it so much that I do it too, but I order them through I have a manilla file with all 3 printed out, then just refer to the date stamp on the page to know if it is time to print a new one. My months are February, June and October. Smile

Another good site. I should also mention that Transunion requires you to enter payment information. And then, at the end of the 7 day trial, you are held responsible for canceling, or else facing charges for a membership to check your report at any time.

So, some may prefer I forgot about that one. Thanks!
