Took the car in today to get an alignment done. The tires seem to be wearing more on the outside, which is not right. They should wear evenly.
Four hours later, the car is done. They did not call me. But, in their defence, they were quite busy today. So, hint number 1 - go to a tire shop when they are busy. Why? They won't try to sell you tires. And mine obviously need to be replaced!
The store manager folds up the receipt, staples his card to it, and says, "I didn't charge you. You were cool about the wait and your car didn't need any adjustments anyway."
That struck me as odd. I mean, woo-hoo, free alignment! I was expecting $60-80 (that's what they quoted), but I had a $20 off coupon anyways. So, I asked about the wear, and he said nothing was wrong. So I went on my merry way.
What does this mean? Well, I have been meaning to get a new head unit for the car's stereo, as we will be taking a trip to Portland here in a couple of weeks, and a road trip is no fun without a working CD/iPod player! So I have found a head unit on sale online that is $60 with free shipping. Plays via USB, SD Card, and AUX input. And it's over $100 off.
So anyways... Keep in mind... If you keep your cool and waste your Saturday, you just mind end up with a good deal.
